We’re seeking a Director, Document Management Systems who will report to the CEO, and be responsible for leading and expanding our DMS Practice. Serving on the senior leadership team, the primary goal(s) will be to build the business and provide leadership and guidance on operational issues, business strategy, policies and practices affecting the organization with a strong focus on process improvement and service excellence.

At eSentio you’ll…

  • Define and drive business development activities to expand the DMS practice area into new Fortune200 law firms and enterprise corporate legal environments
  • Monitor and identify opportunities for improvement of company operations related to project management and execution
  • Recruit, build, and lead a team of high performing Consultants and leaders in the DMS practice area, ensuring business plans are met with high client satisfaction outcomes
  • Lead and mentor staff, and provide feedback for employee reviews and ongoing development
  • Define, document and implement best practices for the DMS practice group.
  • Report on departmental financial analysis and review against billing and utilization expectations to ensure alignment with corporate strategy and earning goals
  • Consult directly with clients to design and implement document management systems and best practices, to assist clients with the design & implementation of DMS systems along with other technologies, specializing in NetDocuments or iManage and other leading DMS deployments
  • Develop, implement, and manage complex multi resource, multi-year project plans, implementation timelines, and application distribution schedule to meet operational targets and long-range plans aligned with the organization’s strategic plans
  • Conduct end to end business analysis and design of content lifecycle management within the DMS electronic client file, creating detailed business and technical assessments of client firm content lifecycle management, producing highly professional findings and recommendations documents
  • Evaluate existing DMS implementations and develop recommendations for problem resolution, enhancement, and tuning, presenting recommendations to client’s management, administrative and/or technical staff.
  • Integrate content lifecycle management with Firm information governance, security and privacy policies and processes
  • Deploy Firm information governance, email, security and privacy policies as related to content in the DMS
  • Maintain and develop vendor relationships specific to the DMS practice area
  • Maintain a high level of subject matter and technical expertise, as well as industry trends and knowledge, achieving updated current knowledge and certifications with appropriate training and professional development plans
  • Present at trade shows, webinars and podcasts, participate in thought leadership events such as CIO roundtables, and author articles and white papers for industry trade publications to maintain reputation as subject matter expert
  • Travel to client sites or company leadership or team meetings from time to time

We need you to have…

  • A BS or BA degree, with an MS or JD preferred, in a business, technology or legal field of study
  • 3 or more years of experience consulting to large law firms on document management, with a preference for experience with global practices
  • 7 or more years of experience overseeing complex, large-scale implementations and product rollouts
  • At least 3 years of experience planning and driving business development activities, ideally for a technology consulting organization
  • Understanding of the business of law firms, including governance, security, privacy and risk management issues facing firms
  • Experience hiring, mentoring, and managing billable consultants, creating project strategies and ensuring successful implementation and client satisfaction
  • Experience in complex ECM consulting including the analysis, design, implementation, administration, and support of electronic document management and associated systems, with a history of matter lifecycle management design
  • Extensive experience consulting in corporate technology or law firms with a proven track record of estimating and leading complex assessment and design/deployment of projects, particularly interacting with attorneys in focus group and business design sessions.  
  • Experience in the integration of desktop applications with document management systems 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server databases
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills as well as presentation experience with the ability to produce high quality professional consulting assessment documents and project plans
  • Track record of speaking and writing on law firm client file management issues, including speaking at conferences such as ARMA and ILTA.
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office suite applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook Required
  • Willingness to travel from time to time
